The Artist Pendant with Joseph Campbell Quote
$ 20.00
In the 1890s illustrator William Gibson created a series of drawings that came to epitomize the late nineteenth century's concept of the ideal American woman. Gibson portrayed his "Gibson Girls", as they came to be known, as tall, confident, athletic, outgoing women. A much different representation of femininity than had been portrayed in the media previously. They were often drawn engaging in activities that only a few years before were seen as not suitable for women. The illustration here shows a "Gibson Girl" as an accomplished portrait painter. The back of the pendant features the Joseph Campbell quote:
“Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are the artists of one kind or another.”
A quote which defines and honors the place or artists in society.
The pendant measures approx. 1 x 1.5 inches and is hand made from archival paper and ink, glass and lead free pewter. The rich patina of the hand formed pewter frame complements the polished highlights for a rich, textured look.
The pendant comes with a 30 inch hemp cord.
